Jim, re EN
Aug 11, 2000 --- Intel Corp. has pulled the plug on plans to use Rambus direct
memory in the mainstream PC market, according to confidential documents
obtained by Electronic News.

Intel's Desktop 2001 Roadmap Update indicates direct Rambus DRAM
(RDRAM) will only be used in the high-end desk-top market.

(Emphasis mine).

What do you suppose that is?

chaners electronic news has a history of fraud. It's amazing how they get away with. Last year this time it was "ibm abandons rambus on multiple fronts!!" which was promptly denied by ibm. But they still accomplished what they wanted

Jim, <Bert McComas is also making up Intel's roadmap. What they are doing smells like fraud.>

I'm sorry to say this, Jim, but it seems Bert is pretty close to the truth here. I do not know what Intel's roadmap is for desktops, since I'm a server guy, but I can find no obvious attempt at FUD-mongering in Bert McComas' statements. (At least none that compares to Carl's obvious attempts ...)

But remember that Intel's roadmaps seem to change with the wind. So you never know ...
