Jarhead, I'd wait until the knife stops falling. RFMD is under a selloff so the bottom may not be here yet.

Oversold, maybe, but perhaps overvalued as well. Things move quickly in semis. Where there is money to be made lots of companies appear.

10Q for Q2 reads mighty fine to me. There are some really positive indicators there, to my mind.

Is it just me, or does the timing of this split suck? I would have much preferred to hear that announcement in the fall. I'm not expecting any wild swings over the next couple of weeks, but it will be interesting to note the impact. I certainly haven't lost any faith in management, nor do I object to any of their recent trades; it's just that an August split is so weak.

Let me ramble with a little musing, kind of like listening in on the private meeting that inevitably follows the formal meeting...$300M fundraiser? So who's in? Hmmm...we can go on sale for a while, if their gang really'd like to go deep...and they really are stepping up for the convertibles too, right? With the 50M bump? Alright, we do a 2:1 in August on top of the notes. That'll do it. Everybody gets in low, and no warnings. Not to worry, we're all fat again in 12-18 months. Pratt's gone back down a few big ones here, and the kids need toys. Let's lock and load... Strictly my own whimsical speculation. I guess I figure everything's fixed, just to lesser or greater degrees...and it's okay. It's capitalism.

These recent NOK & MOT games are pretty telling about who's ready to keep pace. Keep in mind that guys like Verizon and Nextel would love to be just giving this stuff away like candy. Their end user market has taken forever to get up to speed. I remember my first cell phone was about $600. and was like carrying around a broken toaster. It seems to me that RFMD has had a great handle on the game all along, and isn't being forced to react by chopping and cutting and beating up suppliers. Sure, the pricing on "mature" products will dip, but they appear nicely prepared for it - in part by spending good R&D dollars for the next generation products. The supply chain seems to be very, very well negotiated by the RFMD team - as clearly evidenced by the gross profit statement from Q2. I also doubt we'll see any gluts in their inventories.

I came back to RFMD this year with a blanket and an umbrella. Now I find myself fortified in this trench with sandbags all around. Comfortable though. Cell phones ringing everywhere.

Have a good weekend all.
