Tony, RE: AMAT's the undisputed freakin' leader in their field, though, with no slipups. What's up with that? The C word (cycle) I guess.

I prefer to think of it as the V word (valuation). The stocks that are cheaper on an absolute basis seem to be holding up, such as IBM.

That doesn't explain the problems over at AMD, but they're in a league all their own. And I can't help but think oxymoron when I hear 'AMD' and 'value' in the same sentence, no matter what the PE is.

Tony-

The tech market has simply stopped responding to good news, even very good news. It sees ANY hint of bad news as an affirmation of the fear currently dominating the market. Cisco's revenues up 60%? Why wasn't it 75%?
In a way, it is understandable. The NAS got way ahead of itself early in the year, and a lot of people got burned in the resulting correction. It has now gone up some and then down AGAIN and buyers are simply sick of the ride.
Don't know what will turn things around. If reports like we got from Cisco and AMAT can't do it, can't imagine what will.
It will turn, probably as a result of some catalyst that we cannot even see on the radar at this point.

Tony,

Frank's response was, IMHO, on target. We've all been through these times when the techs, no matter what they do, get no respect. And also the times when they rally for no good reason. This is usually the time to have some cash and do some selective buying, though it's unlikely that you will get in at the bottom, you can at least be assured you are not buying at the top <g>.
