One AMAT analyst said something to the effect... the stock is way down we know, but it is NOT time to buy. Hold if you own the stock.

This after the bullish amat conf call. I don't follow amat but apparently this was the most bullish call they ever had. They used to be cautious.

The analyst seems to think a 30-40% haircut is coming from these levels???

I dunno.

I agree Jorj. I'm keeping an eye on the SOX right now, trading near the 200 DMA.

Lizzie, I think the real reason the analysts still tout the "cyclicality" of the semi's is that the stocks DO get overextended and the best way to "put them on sale" is to say "the cycle is ending" and six months later reverse it and say , hey, looks like demand is heating up again, gotta revise those PE's, time to buy folks! There's a thread header that says something like buy Semi's when the blood is in the streets....I agree with that. And that "blood" usually coincides with the 200 DMA.
