Richard Ney made his money on rolling stock, and knew, I believe, the specialist on Proctor Gamble stock. After I paid $200, he advised me to buy 4000 shares on one particular day, and called me back to make sure I made some money. He was a gentlemen, and a movie star at one time.

What Richard Ney taught me, is the procedure that specialist worked under the NYSE rules. Customers are the stock pool of the specialist and also the cash pool. Large brokerages are the places to borrow stock for shorts. You have to wait to place large orders, when the specialist can find you a customer to do the opposite. And I confirmed this with another specialist during my visit to his office and heard the way he talked to his customers.

The online system offers very small lots for trading by market makers. It is not the way big money moves.

Have a good weekend, yourself, too.
