Besides more prisoners there is now more forfeiture of property. Property rights are almost nonexistent now...I often wonder why I want to chance buying land and building a house. A friend of mine is very ill: he can barely walk from his car to the medical facility at Kaiser. The other day his car was taken away from him by a policement "only following the law" at the parking lot at the medical facility. He said "how will I get home, how will I get back and forth to the grocery store? " The answer "That's your problem". Why was his car taken away? Apparently there was an outstanding parking ticket and because of that Dept of Motor Vehicles had not sent his "00" tabs for his license plate. He had paid the registration for 00 but didn't realize he had not received the tabs. Of course they never notified him that he had not received them or why. The police noticed the car without the tabs, pulled him over, and checked and saw the parking violation a year overdue. That was reason enough to deprive him of HIS car that HE paid for. A day later he went to pay the parking ticket and get the car back. It cost him hundreds of dollars because of course HE had to pay the towing, storage, etc etc etc. It's all a game to show the people who is in charge of their life...and it certainly is the not the people in charge, anymore. Freeus This is just one small example. There are millions more and some much MUCH more horrible.
