PopMail Makes Strategic Investment In NC, Inc.
NC, Inc.'s Calendaring ASP to Feature PopMail as Email Provider
ARLINGTON, Va. & IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 2000--NC, Inc., the premier provider of local content and web-based calendaring tools, announces today that it has received a strategic investment of $1 million from PopMail.com, Inc. (www.popmail.com), a leading permission- and affinity-based email services company.

NC, Inc., formerly known as NetCalendar, Inc., plans to use the investment to increase its advertising and marketing efforts and expand its local events content service, Your Local Buzz(TM), and its wireless content service, MobileBuzz.

With the investment, PopMail will hold a minority stake in NC, Inc. Terms of the investment were not released; however, the agreement paves the way for future investments in NC, Inc. by PopMail.

In addition to investing in NC, Inc., PopMail.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: POPM - news) has agreed to be the email service provider for NC, Inc.'s Calendaring ASP product, DailyDrill.com(TM). Under the deal, the PopMail(TM) ``affinity-based'' email service will be included in future licensed private label and co-brand calendars. NC, Inc.'s Calendaring ASP, and its local event content service Your Local Buzz, will provide scheduling tools and events data for use with both the PopMail Internet service and Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). This will enable PopMail to transmit NC, Inc.'s content via the World Wide Web and wireless telephones and PDAs such as Palm® and Windows CE®-driven handheld products.

``Before committing to this investment, we looked at other providers and felt that NC, Inc. had the best services to offer. We believe that NC, Inc.'s online calendar service, DailyDrill.com, and content service, Your Local Buzz, will enhance the services we currently provide our existing clients, said Gary Schneider, CEO of PopMail.com, Inc., and that this relationship will give us the opportunity to expand our sports coverage to the collegiate level.''

``I believe that PopMail's significant investment in our company is a ringing endorsement for our business model and our capabilities,'' said Edward L. Neumann, chief executive officer of NC, Inc., parent of Your Local Buzz and DailyDrill.com, the Calendaring ASP prototype. ``These additional resources will enable us to further expand our product offerings and increase our marketing and advertising presence. No doubt these activities will aid us in efforts to continue to grow market share for NC, Inc.'s Your Local Buzz and calendar products.
