Jim-

I have actually thought about buying some VERY recently. I am sure glad I didn't the first several times I was advised to. <g>

Jim-

I had to deal with some urgent problem before I could get a full answer off to you.
AMD may be a compelling buy right now, but it doesn't fit my investment style. I am a buy-and-hold, big cap investor and need to make about 7% on my investments to live comfortably. Fortunately, like most people who have been in the market the last several years, I have done a lot better than that. I first purchased Intel just before Windows95 came out, thinking there would be massive computer upgrading. My Intel is up about 500% since then. I know that I could have made that much on AMD just this last year, but my timing would have to have been perfect and timing is not my bag.
I wish I were as sanguine about future AMD stock prices as you are. It seems to me that AMD is selling their Athons very cheap. I know the importance of gaining market share, but I get a little concerned when I see AMD posters celebrating the fact that this Athlon and that K6 is cheaper than the equivalent PIII or Celeron. All I see in those celebrations is margins that are higher for Intel than for AMD.
"Mhz sells, TM Jim McMannnis" is fine, but where are things going in the next 5-10 years? Droids are focused on the next two quarters, but what happens after that? Is everyone expecting to make a killing on AMD stock and being out before they have to worry about it?
Sorry this is so long. Periodically, it is therapeutic for me to put into writing why I am in Intel and not in AMD. I hope we ALL do well.
