you will have those who believe Jesus stood by the river bank and pulled countless fish ... It's amazing how the scale and prevalence of miracles has died down once there was mass literacy. Today if someone did that there would be dozens of pilgrims who would send a postcard about this amazing feat they saw. 2000 years ago you could wait many years after the fact and write down whatever way you wanted. The written version would be repeated far more often than any oral tradition. TP
