Did Microsoft "announce" Win64? Where is it? Merced is years late, while Microsoft may be still a year away from having an OS with minimum level of stability.

Meaning, if Intel was on time and delivered Itanium say 2 years ago, there would be no Windows OS of it for next 3 years.

In my opinion, software is the slowest moving part, the weakest link in the chain, and the more critical the software is to the success of a new chip, the lower the odds are that this chip will succeed.
