Just saw an interview with Paul Hendrickson, who wrote a book about McNamara called The Living and the Dead. He said that McNamara knew 2 years before he resigned that the war was unwinnable. I found that statement astonishing. How many men were sent over there in his last 2 years of office? He should have resigned when he first got the idea we weren't going to win.

The book you suggest looks interesting, thanks. Anyone named Archimedes Patti is worth checking out.
