UF: When I was about 12/13 yrs old, I wrote part of the quote u just posted on a piece of paper. That portion is below. I framed that piece of paper with that quote and put it on my wall. Kept it on my wall growing up. That was a long long time ago. I still have that piece of paper in that same old frame, not on the wall anymore, but I saw it not to long ago in a box where I keep special things.

. . . . but with a more finely acquired piece of armor.

I have always had trouble beating down my cynical ways. I sometimes believe that the "cross I bear" is my intelligence. The negative traits that come with that "cross," appear to me, at times, to be naiveté and arrogance, a dangerous combination. My risk-taking is frequently impulsive. It stems from, I think, a frequent sense of desperation. Life is so short, though, and I routinely worry about the future. Security and health are things I have generally taken for granted. But concerns in those areas grow each day.
