me: "Their publicly stated plan for over a year has been to introduce P4 at the high end with RDRAM support, then later introduce SDRAM/DDR support as P4 moves into the mainstream. "

u: "I'd sure like to see a link for that. It goes counter to everything I've been hearing, and has been written on this thread for the last 2 years. You should provide the link because you may be the only person on the thread who believes it to be true."

How about the intel geyser who described it as old news. it's good enough for me. 'specially as he declared it old news after i did. I think i also linked to one of tench's posts from months ago hinting at a similar idea

Scumbria,

"Intel has long been following a plan of having SDRAM support for P4 "
This cannot be an important issue.
Obviously the initial hype around their first commercially available 64 bit mpu is going to be centered on speed, so obviously INTC will want to highlight this at the opening.
But in a few months Willy will have to trickle down in price to the level where it suitable for running Office 200 apps for corporate America.
For these after thoughts, SDRAM whilst probably throttling the speed is eminently suitable.

Good Morning, scumb:
"It goes counter to everything I've been hearing, and has been written on this thread for the last 2 years."

That's just the problem; you've been sniping (here and elsewhere about the company, its technology, and its shareholders) and not listening <g>
