Doug, Re: But doesn't a price cut without a 1.1 intro leave AMD with no super-ASP part? Why bother to bring it forward 2 weeks then?

Maybe OEM partners like Gateway need those two weeks extra time. Or AMD just sees no need to rush its new speed grades to the market. Or maybe I'm just wrong. We'll see on Monday.

BTW, I don't think that an introduction on Monday would make a difference (to the stock price). The street thinks Intel has beaten AMD with its 1.1 GHz paper release and AMD could only regain the speed crown if they released a 1.2 GHz Thunderbird. And we know that this won't happen until early next quarter. So wy bother and speeding the release schedule up. Also, the demand for those parts is probably very low (Dell is selling its 1.1 GHz P3 for over $4,000).
