Jim,

Only one claim has to be infringed for RAMBUS to win in court and there are hundreds of RAMBUS claims.

The question then becomes, how much is the IP worth? The Rambus situation is unique in that they have no product and can not be dealt with through normal cross-licensing procedures.

Rambus claims that they have added more value to DDR IP than DRDRAM is absurd. Obviously, most of their IP centers around RDRAM.

Jim, re: "This clouds their future and their business plans for a long time if they chose to go to war."

Don't under-estimate the OEM issue here. As you and I have discussed preiously, the specter of OEM's steering their business to licensed MM's is likely to be also providing great incentive to settle.
