To: Maurice Winn who wrote (15679 ) 8/13/2000 7:45:48 AM From: BobRealEstate Respond to of 29987 Maurice, I have watched here and posted for a bit of time and have appreciated your commentary. I still find disingenuity between Vman's comments about IFN BK'ing G* and the subsequent retraction or denial (strangely there is vigorous dancing around this point). When commentary like Vman's goes so far askew it needs to be addressed. If the attack was too personal, I'll instead focus on the inconsistencies in the future. Hate the sin, love the sinner type stuff. I certainly found the majority of retribution to be personal as well. The veil of civility must be wafer thin in these parts... Anyway...on to discussing G*. This part of the thread is getting awful boring. It does appear, at least anecdotally, that G* is starting to get the marketing together and that the SPs are starting (ever SO slowly) to get the product out there. From the recently mailed Quarterly, <Globalstar phones have been used by a number of relief and law enforcement organizations which have relied on the service for several rescue missions. Service providers also loan phones for promotional purposes to high profile teams of adventurers who have used them as emergency lifelines at sea, in road races and stopovers on inter-continental flights where terrain rendered alternative modes of communication inoperable> Of course, I'd like to see these meager efforts turned into sales of phones and minutes, but it is a start. Couple this with the widespread reports of radio, print ads plus PR attempts with bikers and boaters and finally the co.'s sensitivity toward getting the Carib. up now as opposed to waiting for the PR gateway to be fully operational all point to a turning of the tide. Interesting too, again pointing to G*'s engineering brilliance, how they got the Carib. up by bootstrapping the GW in Venezuela. Now if they had the same smarts in the marketing department (which they may have just hired, BTW). Some other interesting points from the Quarterly: <and in some areas of Australia where phones are available for under $600> I hope that's A$, which it is not, but one can still hope. This shows more room on the downside for price NOW. Other points summarized below: China is UP now, ALL of Australia now UP. Service in Saudi was started and will be fully available in September (hopefully Sep 1 and not 30). Saudi is universally regarded as an important market. Not all doom and gloom.
