Tell me about it. I completely agree that the upper echelon gets way too many options as compared to the rank and file. But remember everything has to happen in baby steps. Right now, companies like Cisco are giving more options to the rank and file than any other company previously. Many low level people there really do have the opportunity to become millionaires in less that 6 or 7 years, which is much better than any other opportunities they've had.

There are things happening in the securities arena which are making the rank and file much more powerful, like ubiquitous information and cheap online trading. In fact a policy/law (not sure which) was just passed that essentially says that upper echelon types cannot give analysts headsup info anymore without broadly releasing the same info within 24 hours to the public. So huge strides are being made and eventually, everyone will be better off. It just takes time to get there. It's very tough to wrest control of the financial wealth of this country from the rich and make it available to others - especially overnight.
