It sounds like you are not worried in the least about the deal going through. Does it cross your mind and if so how do you think it would effect SDLI should the deal not go through?

I'm not in the least cavalier about the DOJ process. However, I'm confident that should it fall out SDL will either continue on its own (including steadily improving revenues and gross margins) or be taken out by one of the recently announced spinoffs of either ALA or LU. SDL is merging with JDSU to improve its ability to manufacture in greater quantities --- in other words, to better meet customers' needs. The alternative on the vendors' side is to ramp their own component and module capabilities, as stated in the merger conference call. It's only a small step to ask yourself how they'll do this and whether SDL would be a choice acquisition if they want to succeed. GLW, LU, NT, and ALA could all benefit from having SDL on board. SDL commands a sizeable lead in the advanced actives space and that's the area that has the highest barriers to entry. The 10Gb/s and 40Gb/s clocks are ticking and as SDL's solutions are being designed into the major carriers' systems, the tick-tick-tick only gets louder --- a sound more akin to a time-bomb than Grandfather clock.
