I'm glad someone found the question interesting. Paul had me convinced that I need to go buy a game console and sit in a corner ;)

What I am trying to explore is that at any time in the past, has intel made any significant improvements to the (X-1)th generation of processors when the (X)th generation had been released.

I think that we need not wait for benchmarks to read the banner that intel has been posting for all to see, about what it thinks of its Willamette processors regarding their performance. Let's just look at Intels actions!

So, Coppermine will be taken to 0.13, to copper, increased bus freq, double L2 cache. Wow, someone must have forgotten to mention it to them that they would have the 7th generation out for 8 months by then, let's let the 6th generation fade away.
