I was saying that I don't necessarily agree that LBJ was pushing the war primarily to generate revenues for his social plans, but I do agree with you that Greenspan and the '90's have nothing to do with the question. FT was saying that AG and the '90's boom proved that you don't need a war to generate a boom, which I don't think is very relevant, since LBJ would hardly have been convinced by evidence that didn't yet exist.

Seems to me that both the war and the Great Society were financed by the traditional method of raising money: cranking the printing press.
