PRESS RELEASE— Jul 12 2000
ANGARA AND NET PERCEPTIONS SIGN RESELLER AGREEMENT

Net Perceptions to Integrate and Resell Angara Converter within

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and MINNEAPOLIS – July 12, 2000 – Angara, a leading provider of online marketing services, and Net Perceptions (Nasdaq: NETP), a recognized leader in personalization and e-commerce analytics, today announced a reseller agreement that incorporates Angara Converter into a new integrated suite of ASP-delivered marketing and personalization services – the Net Perceptions Personalization Network. This strategic relationship delivers a powerful, end-to-end ASP solution for improving marketing and merchandising strategies, and personalizing online customer relationships.

The Net Perceptions Personalization Network provides a comprehensive business solution for improving bottom line results, simplifying the execution process of multi-channel online marketing campaigns and delivering accurate feedback on campaign effectiveness. This new solution offers a unified method for marketers to monitor, analyze and improve online marketing campaigns, allowing for greater flexibility in balancing customer acquisition and retention plans. Through this agreement, Angara Converter, the industry’s leading hosted online marketing service for converting browsers into buyers, will serve as the Customer Acquisition Channel within the Personalization Network.

“After an extensive review of the customer conversion services market, we found Angara to be a strategic addition to our Personalization Network,” said Brad Miller, vice president and general manager of Net Perceptions’ Network Division. “Angara’s ease of integration and speed of deployment, offers our customers an actionable solution for creating new customers online.”

In today’s competitive retailing world, personalization is critical to building profitable online customer relationships. Until now, personalizing website content and marketing offers throughout the customer lifecycle required companies to integrate several disparate applications and data sources – resulting in lost opportunities and higher customer acquisition costs. The integration of Angara Converter with the other channels in the Personalization Network enables online marketers to easily implement and analyze the effectiveness of marketing efforts across email and Website channels. The ability to provide consistent marketing messages and promotions across multiple channels has proven to create and develop a tighter bond with consumers and reduce customer acquisition costs.

“Online retailers are under immense pressure to continually acquire and retain new customers,” said Rich Clayton, vice president of marketing at Angara. “By partnering with market leaders such as Net Perceptions, Angara enables retailers to implement an integrated, end-to-end solution for using personalization throughout the customer lifecycle to build and foster more profitable online customer relationships.”

Victor,
Thanks for taking the time to expand on the details of the NETP product offerings and clarifying that NETP services multiple distribution channels.

It would make sense that BFRE management was referring to NETP's new ASP product with similar pricing , but on the call I heard BFRE management made the comparison to the NETP enterprise software solution. This dialogue transpired when one of the analysts asked 'who else they are were seeing in the space'. BFRE said that with their new ASP solution, they were in a different ball game than Cj.com or Linkshare, and really entering the NETP space. Then they went on to make the price comparison of BFRE with the NETP enterprise software solution. Not making this up, promise.

Is it possible that for pure e-tailers, BFRE's new ASP solution (upselling and crossselling of merchants in the network) can match the NETP software enterprise solution?
Inquiring minds want to know :-)

On the margins, I agree totally that the ASP solution has g-r-r-e-a-t margins. BFRE estimates 90% company wide margins.

At the moment , both stocks seem to be severly wounded. Actually BFRE is on a respirator. However, I maintain that in the future these are both going to be very profitable biz models. Like an autopilot cash cow.
