Be specific. Durons sales would be lost only if the Duron and infrastructure were ready. They weren't, and therefore the sales couldn't have been made. But the Durons were put in inventory and sold when the infrastructure was there. Recording the sales in the 3rd quarter instead of the second quarter doesn't mean sales were lost; they were delayed, not lost. <<<That is the problem. <<<< What problem? As far as I know, there aren't any serious problems with either the Duron or T-bird chips. Blaming AMD FOR VIA'S problems is idiotcy. AMD has no right to demand anything of Via or ALI or SIS. Secondly, these things take time. Not all of us can be as perfect as you are. <<<<Good planning beats being mystical. Planning at 1 AMD place was screwed up. <<<< What planning are you talking about? Should AMD have notified Via earlier, should AMD PLANNED to do the chipset themselves, and if so, which project should be put on hold, so AMD can allocated the resources. What should AMD DO? Delay sledgehammer for six months, the 760 chipset????? Just what is so damned important about the 3 wk delay on the Via chipsets that AMD SHOULD DROP EVERYTHING and allocate their resources to that. The simple truth is that all of AMD'S dURON AND t-BIRD PRODUCTION IS SOLD OUT. To delay the Hammer or the 760 because Via or other vendors might have problems is ridiculous. Secondly, the 750 chipset works with Duron. The OEM's prefer Via's chipset. Thats their right. <<Think about it. Unlike Intel's 1 GHz PIIIs, AMD had Durons to sell.<<<< Yes, but if you had your way, AMD would have allocated their resources for developing chipsets and wouldn't have had a chip. What is the difference. Are you claiming AMD COULD HAVE DEVELOPED both chips and chipsets in the same time with the same resources. Dream on. <<<<So, tell me, has AMD made up for all the Athlon sales it has lost since the launch because of infrastructure issues? <<< During the fourth quarter, there was a shortage going on. All of the sales lost during the third quarter were made up in the fourth and first quarters. I am not certain if all of the Durons from the 2nd quarter are made up yet, but they will be; because AMD has announced all production for Duron was sold. <<<<Once the problem is fixed, could you retroactively ship those to Q2? <<<< What is your fixation on q2 about? What is the difference if AMD sells the Durons in q2 or q3. I look at the low stock price as a buying opportunity. When all of those delayed sales show up in q3 or q4, AMD'S balance sheet will look even better. <<<<<<My estimate on what the sales could have been if the low-end sockets weren't lost to Celeron.<<<< YOUR ESTIMATES!!!! What a joke. Unless you are in mgmt,or sales at AMD, HOW WOULD YOU POSSIBLY KNOW how many sales if any were lost due to bad planning. That is the height of arrogance; to assume you know everything, when you have no direct knowledge at all. <<Unbelievable! So, you think AMD has out every Athlon/Duron chips it manufactured in Q2? <<<<< Of course I do. Jerry said so, and you know Jerry never lies. <<<<<What business are you in? I am not aware of any business out there that might want to put the product in inventory instead of selling it. May be I will find one today? <<<< Say, you're not as sharp as you claim to be. All car companies stock pile new models until their official introductions. Any seasonal business normally would stockpile during the off season, in order to have inventory for the peak season. A doll company near us has huge warehouses where they stockpile dolls for X-mas. Maybe you yourself should do a little planning before you make statements like that. <<<<<Since you say you are a businessman, do you resent people that keep making the same mistake over and over and over again? Or do you support them? <<< You have yet to define any specific mistakes AMD has made. You claim AMD didn't plan well, but where is your proof. What mistakes are you talking about. << I tell you what is crock. Claiming to be a businessman and saying that product going to inventory is the same as product that is sold.<<< Apparently you also can't read. I said that whether a product is sold or put in inventory, they are both an asset, and both add to the bottom line.
