It's almost a full moon... time of great sleeplessness in Crocdom... and of strange dreams when there is sleep...such as it is... And yes.... strange how gardens can... rebel... revert... convert... when they feel neglected or even "unobserved" for a short while... I have had a busy summer... busier than most... and my garden is in a state of absolute rebellion...chaos...anarchy... It's interesting to see it like this for a change though... the hundreds of Queen-Anne's-Lace and wild white yarrow growing up in the wilder areas of the lawn... masses of them... quite beautiful if unruly... And the herb garden, with its collection of medicinal herbs... with monstrous evening primroses and mullein plants.. "volunteers" that decided that they belong in the middle of the action, so I left them where they grew...for, in fact, they too are traditional medicinal plants... albeit very gregarious ones... BTW, I love the mullein plants... with their large, soft green, furry leaves and yellow spires of flowers... so...architectural in a "soft" sense... ~~~~~~~~ Today was yet another canoe trip... the one thing that I make time for regardless of how crazed life seems... This one on the Tay River in Perth... from the put-in at Last Duel Park... and yes, there actually was a duel there...and somebody mortally wounded someone else... a duel over a lady for that matter... The river was beautiful today... many young bass swimming in the shade of the trees which overarch the banks... little green ghost-fish floating along in the shadowy reflections beside the canoe. The Tay is an ideal river for paddling on a hot, sunny day... We saw an osprey fishing in a backwater off the main channel. They aren't that common anymore, but I know of at least 3 or 4 places where I will almost surely be able to watch one fishing.... Interesting how birds...animals... choose certain territories for hunting and.... will sit on the same one or two trees throughout the whole season... once they have found the best fishing hole..... Hope you are feeling better, E.... croc
