Intel repurchased $2 bln of stock in first half
WASHINGTON, Aug 14 (Reuters) - The world's largest chip maker, Intel Corp., (NasdaqNM:INTC - news) repurchased 36.4 million common shares for $2 billion during the first half of 2000, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Monday.

As of July 1, about 163.8 million shares remained available for repurchase under an authorised programme, the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company said in the regulatory filing for the quarter ended July 1.

Intel shares were up 11/16 to 64-1/2 in early Nasdaq trading. They have a 52-week high of 73-1/2 and a low of 32-8/16.

The company has about 6.7 billion common shares outstanding as of July 1.
