Well, the "darling" of the environmentalists, Al Gore, has been asked to sell his shares of OXY. Actually, those shares are in a trust for his mother and he is only the trustee but I would guess, the eventual heir. Reason for this prodding: OXY wants to drill for oil. Wow, OXY wants to drill for oil. Can you imagine that? I understand that Gore is resisting this request to sell those oil shares. But he may end up waffling. gg. That reminds me. Gore blasts Bush/Cheney for being oil men. Haliburton is in exploration and Cheney has already resigned (Lieberman is not giving up running for his Senate seat, just in case) and Bush was a small independent oil company owner. Well, when your family was in the tobacco business and owns oil shares, you shouldn't call the kettle black. gg. Gore's dad worked for Armand Hammer who was the principal owner of OXY. Armand Hammer was on good footing with Stalin. Stalin had a permanent suite reserved for Mr. Hammer for his visits to Moscow. I wonder what would be said if Mr. Bush or Mr. Cheney had worked for that company? Like I mentioned to you in a prev. post, I listened to C-Span, where a Republican Senator blasted the Dems and the administration for a nonexistent energy policy which involves no attempt to drill for oil on our shores, etc. It was also brought up that nat.gas exploration has suffered and the Senator warned that this could affect prices. I guess you remember that I mentioned to you that this Senator also declared: This is the biggest threat to our economy. It's time to get off the fence. I guess things could get a lot worse if this administration stays the course on a no energy policy. You just can't depend on foreign oil forever. Hopefully we will get more oil from OPEC and ignore some of those more rigid clean fuel requirements for right now until we have a better energy policy in place. We have a Republican Congress and Senate but you can't get better policies past a Dem administration. We need a Republican President to make sure that we don't end up walking everywhere and that we don't end up sweating in the summer and freezing in the winter.gg. We could go back to coal stoves but that's not correct either in these times. So, what's left? The stock market is doing a bit better today. Your TXN and QCOM looks a lot healthier lately. Sonny
