REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- (http://www.oracle.com/tellmemore/?290447) Under a project called core Financial and Logistics System (coreFLS), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will replace a diverse mix of old-technology systems with state-of-the-art integrated Oracle(R) software to better serve U.S. veterans. The VA, the federal government's largest civilian agency with nearly 220,000 employees, will use Oracle U.S. Federal Financials, including the Federal Financials and Federal Purchasing modules, along with Oracle Internet Procurement applications and the Oracle Internet Application Server, running on top of the Oracle8i(TM) database. The agency will implement Oracle software in a pilot program this fall, conduct beta tests from May 2001 through July 2001, and will issue a final delivery order for national implementation if the tests are successful. Oracle was chosen for the pilot from among seven vendors. Oracle's 100 percent Internet financial applications, accessed just using a browser, are specifically tailored for federal agencies and certified for U.S. government use to ease the way toward e-government.
