telecomguy,

Why the hate for everything cisco?

Today NT owns the long-haul ADM optical market. In OC-192 its share is about 90%. Thats even higher than cisco in core routing. But its not all optical just ADM - and while SONET is significant today it may not always be...

However we both know that no carrier likes a one vendor relationship and as much as NT will remain #1 at 192 and above - someone (or two) will take up significant market share.

Its clear that both NT and Cisco can win, jumping up and down about your belief that Cisco cannot do optical would be similar to me making too much of NT's dependence on Juniper at layer 3.

Cisco is attempting to beat Lucent and others to #2. Does NT plan on re-entering the Layer 3 market or do you seriously think they will buy Juniper?

I always wondered why they scuttled the talks with Ciena as well. That was at least two years ago. They would have been in the game pretty good now, had they done that. I wonder what the rational was.
