Glad to see the 1 GHz was not cut to sub $500 as the Register had said.

The register has an article clarifying what the different sets of prices mean. The $470 price is the price the distributor charges it's customers (online stores / screwdriver shop) There are other, higher prices for boxed processors, and the AMD prices are probably it.

Petz, I don't know about those prices, pricewatch has a listing for 1ghz Athlon, socket A, $495+$11 shipping. The low listing from a search is actually $484 + $10, pricewatch is still messed up with Athlon vs. Thunderbird listings, though.

I think the Register & others reporting sub-$500 for the gigathlon are correct.
