Actually I really do want someone to answer why the 1GHz coppermine is not shipping "prime time" right now.

IBM has it "ship today". What is that? I'm not close at all, but Intel did have to build up inventories and channels with the 866s and 933s. That looks done. 1 GHz next. Rome wasn't built in a day. You have heard of the term "leapfrog", right? Competitor A leapfrogs B, then B leapfrogs back. Watch your back, droid.

The 1 Gig PIII IS shipping in good quantities.

A much more interesting question is why you are incapable of understanding this.

Re: Either intel's new "C" stepping has yet to hit the market, or the new stepping failed to binsplit in volume at 1GHz...

The latest stepping of the PIII 933 requires special cooling (to 5 degress C below a standard P3), the 1.0 requires very special cooling (to 10 degrees C below a standard P3) and 1.13 basically needs a kryotech case (requiring cooling to 18 degrees C below a standard p3).

RatByte - Re:"Actually I really do want someone to answer why the 1GHz coppermine is not shipping "prime time" right now"

Seven vendors on Pricewatch.com are selling 1 GHz Pentium IIIs.

IBM and DELL are selling 1 GHz Pentium IIIs PCs.

What I want to know is why you are such a simpleton - is it an inherited or acquired trait?
