Oh, yes. Via owed AMD a lot. AMD gave via 100% market share in the socket A chipset front by sharing its technology and helping via to develop the KT133 chipset. Monopoly with fat margin, which is what VIA wanted and got. And that has benefited via greatly.

Instead of accepting AMD as its friends and helping AMD, it turned its back on AMD and failed to deliver on promised production number. The industry can have long memory and in this case it surely will.

AMD is done with VIA and so will Intel as soon as they are done using them. Via will be left with nothing in no more than 9 months.
