Nice article from Fortune. #2, but RFMD tries harder.

In the good 'ol days of the Nifty Fifty that was sound logic for limiting exposure to high growth stocks.

In this day and age, so-called "safety" stocks seem to experience the same degree of major malfunction in share prices as the high P/E issues. A bad quarter in the banking or roofing shingle business, for instance, can whack you 50% just as easily as an RFMD.

Not sure that a diversified portfolio of high growers nowadays is any more risky than having a defensive portfolio of, say, Phillip Morris, Bank One, Eli Lilly, etc. etc. They are all susceptible to sudden executions.
