Gary, I agree I can't see that far ahead either (5 years is a LONG time in the high-tech world!). The point is CSCO is NOT a player in the optics space but everyone (including CSCO) pretends that CSCO is. That's the thing that irks me (not too much but enough to bring some reality to false perception). CSCO should just quietly try to understand, and learn how to build carrier infrastruture platforms instead of making loud proclamations that are not based on fact or reality. PR & mktg may work in the Enterprise business (box business) but only REAL products, REAL technology, REAL implementation know-how, and REAL support will win business with the saavy Carrier CTO's who is likely to know more about Carrier networking needs & technology than CSCO's chief of optical platforms, Carl Russo. Anyway, enough said about CSCO's place in the optics space.
