Frank, the AMD pricecuts/new prices listed in this article are a lot saner than what were floating around last night:

There are several kinds of official prices. The one you heard short time ago (with 1 GHz Tbird at $470) is price for the distributors to charge their customers. There are already many companies selling 1 GHz Tbirds for < $500.

I don't know if the prices in AMD press release are suggested retail prices or prices for boxed processors, but somehow, the price of $619 for 1 GHz Tbird corresponds to the price of $470 on another pricelist.
