Hi all; More on Intel's slow dump of RDRAM:

Intel Scales Back Rambus Plans
However, Intel said it has not totally abandoned its RDRAM plans and its roadmap shows that Intel will use RDRAM for its performance line.
...
Chipset designers have been reluctant to help the Rambus PC cause. Intel is still the only one making chipsets, while DDR is being widely adopted. "At the end of the day, there's still only one place to go for core logic chipsets for RDRAM," said Jim Cantore, program manager of semiconductors at International Data Corp. in Mountain View, Calif. "On the other hand, there are multiple DDR chipsets coming out from multiple vendors."

"You're in a single-source situation twice with one vendor. That's not good for Rambus," he added.
