CPQ teams up with RIMM is a nice try. Dell already teamed up with PALM. HAND may need to get a PC partners so as to sell to bulk buyers through well established PC marketing channels. DELL's B2B channels are the best. CPQ lost its market shares to DELL because of its weak B2B sales. Do not sell your PALM shares based on the competitions from MSFT and RIMM. RIMM may either help the sales of iPaq or kill the iPaq brand. It's an uncertain issue fully depending on how well the RIMM-OS goes in testing the very competitive PDA markets. Yes, MSFT has a deep pocket. But this won't mean it will win this time. Yes, MSFT won the war with Netscape. But you must still remember what they had done for the war. They used bleeding strategy! They knew big dies slower than small while bleeding. So they forced Netscape to become free by making IE free. Can MSFT free CE-OS? No, this time they can not play the same bleeding strategy, at least at the trial period. I won't worry about CPQ, a company made too many mistakes, whose top managers have not showed something enough to impress the Street yet.
