RESEARCH ALERT-Network Appliance estimates raised
NEW YORK, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Bear Stearns analyst Andrew Neff on Tuesday raised his fiscal 2001 earnings estimate for storage software maker Network Appliance Inc. (NasdaqNM:NTAP - news) to 40 cents a share from 35 cents.

-- forecast revenues of $1.1 billion.

-- set a fiscal 2002 estimate of 55 cents a share on revenues of $1.6 billion.

-- ``Our estimates reflect the strong demand trends for data storage products, increasing acceptance of the Network Attached Storage model, and the company's ability to execute with regard to expanding its market opportunity into new verticals, new applications.''

-- retained a buy rating on the stock.

-- Network Appliance reported fiscal first-quarter earnings on Monday that slightly topped Wall Street estimates.

-- shares closed at 90-3/4.
