In a morning research note, Morgan Stanley's semiconductor analyst Mark Edelstone saw 18 months to 24 months left in the semiconductor cycle. He predicted a seasonal rebound in PC demand and downplayed fears of a slowdown in wireless telecommunications. "Given the current disconnect among fundamentals, stock prices, and investor sentiment, we believe most semiconductor stocks look attractive," he said. Edelstone focused on names like Cypress Semi (CY), Intel (INTC) and LSI Logic (LSI). Cypress moved 7% to 43.63. Intel fell fractionally to $66.38. LSI gained 3% to $36.69. Edelstone's report follows Salomon Smith Barney's Jonathan Joseph, who yesterday boosted his earnings numbers for memory chip leader Micron Technology (MU), prompting sectorwide buying.
