You are equating your perception with the average perception of the industry. Have you heard about the guy who drowned in his swimming pool despite the fact it averaged only 3 feet deep? He was in the nine foot section.

You're wrong
As far as I can tell, the general perception of the industry (rightly or wrongly) is that DDR is:
1°) Less expensive
2°) Means less Capex for implementation

Is a short term easy choice in fact, but on the long term, as far as I can see RDRAM remains the only choice.
Point 1°) could be not so true if Rambus applies higher rate of royalties on DDR
Point 2°) is true for all change of industry standard, RDRAM is not different.
