What I found interesting was that Soros was buying Lucent while he was taking money out of the market. He reduced his hedge funds from about $5B or $6B down to about $2B. While doing this he more than quadrupled the size of his LU holding.

Buffett and Soros have similar approaches. They both think that they can see value where the market can't. Buffett by looking at intrinsic value over long periods of time; Soros by looking for areas where the market judgement is just plain wrong.

Soros is also paranoid enough to suspect that he's always wrong and is constantly looking for evidence to prove that.
In that regard he differs completely from the average investor who makes a decision and then excludes all evidence that that decision is lacking.

FWIW,
Ian.

LU looking like it's under accumulation. Nice pattern last couple of days w/volume. Great spinoff play. Guaranteed.

What do you think Mr. Fun?
