Burt,

The first Athlon systems shipped in August last year. The first parts shipped to OEM's in June.

RE:"And why did Jerry pick August 14 as the anniversary date. Could the June date have been in error? Could the individual who was posting the endless "June is coming" messages have been a teensy weensy bit premature?"

August was the first chance at a system...read (motherboards).

So the Athlon launched in June and due to a lack of infrastructure wasn't really available 'til August.

Kind of reminds me of the current Duralon launch...
I guess they will have to put Dirk in charge of chipset and motherboard availability too. He seems the only one at AMD that can get something out on time.
