Interesting read. I especially enjoyed reading it a second time, this time substituting the word "IA64" for "RMBS," and "software developers" for "memory makers."

Good one. But I think the memory makers have more at stake than the software developers.

BTW, could you elaborate on your earlier post on Intel thread: Message 14213161 where you say:

Do you understand why the thunking mechanism that microsoft will use to execute 32 bit binaries on NT 64 will cause catastrophic performance penalties on a VLIW CPU? Would you design a VLIW CPU if you thought dynamic bindings was the future of software? Do you understand why HP is "giving" there VLIW CPU designs to Intel, why HP thinks they hold a technological wildcard that such CPU's will absolutely require?
