Re: Marconi and the new DSL model / NGDLC

Thread- Just in case anyone wants to explore this investment idea further, I thought I would try to clear up what I'm trying to say.

In reference to my linked post above, I did find where I posted my valuation thought on MCONY. FWIW it's at:http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=13157200 ....at the time I wasn't exactly sure my thinking was clear. Today I think it's more clear.

I think The "other" major ILEC, Verizon is indeed deploying the Project Pronto model. But in this case they may be using the duo of Realtec/FORE. Realtec for the DLC expertise, and FORE for the ATM switches. Both of course, now under the Marconi umbrella.

Just thought it was kind of interesting that it appears there will be two major powerhouses in the upgrades to fiber out to the RT's in the USA. Of course, Alcatel, and apparently Marconi. IMO, few have figured out the Marconi angle because Verizon isn't as vocal about their plans as is SBC.

What's most interesting is they are flip-flopped. Newbridge(now Alcatel) brought a large installed base of ATM switches to the RT(remote terminal) DSL game. Whereas Realtec(now Marconi) brought a large installed base of remote-DLCs to the RT DSL game.

I don't want to do my MCONY valuation all over again. Regrettably I didn't post all my notes on the MCONY thread because I felt it would not go over well there. I wish I had posted the notes here instead. But if anyone has the time, it may be worthwhile to do all the MCONY currency translations(terminology too!). -MikeM(From Florida)
