Re: Clearly understood spectrum auctions amount to no more than governments syphoning money from the telecoms sector to fill up their coffers.

And a good thing it is. After all, it's expensive to deplete national treasuries for the likes of George Soros, speculating against the British pound in the ERM debacle in '92. I just figure the telecom auctions are another mechanism to recycle the wealth of the middle class, who will eventually pay the cost of licenses in higher access fees, into the hands of the truly needy financiers and as Bill Clinton puts it oh so well, the "f***ing bond traders" of this world. :))
