There is the back door. Apple could buy ATHM, or at least Att's share. That wouldn't be a problem for other MSO. That wouldn't be a problem for anyone. Does anyone take Apple seriously? Att would not ask too much because ATHM is a drag on it and they don't need what ATHM actually is. Apple does. Why? Jobs said Apple is a media box.

You may throw money now.

Actually Jobs would probably be exactly what ATHM needs

At the risk of getting his religious following after me, first off, they give the guy 700 million for NeXt and where is it now.....years later? He creates an all in one computer that is limited use, non-upgradable but it comes in multiple day-glo colors......ooooh wow! He deliberately screws all the companies that signed on as Mac clone makers at once. They roll out laptops that look suspiciously like toilet seats. The one good thing is that they finally start copying some of the things about Windows that work. They still don't have protected memory (wasn't Rapsody suppose to be there?) which is the most annoying thing about using the Mac OS.

The guy is a con-artist. If that's what ATHM needs, I'm outta here.
