Hi Big Bull! I don't know how far down the OSX goes, but let's talk catalysts.

Ultimately it's contracts and earnings that will push these stocks higher. This is obviously what the long term holders are looking for.

Short term catalysts will be hurricanes, refinery shutdowns, more manipulation with the inventory numbers, etc.

What I find unappealing about this sector is the impact politics plays on the outcome of our stocks. If a politician can screw it up, they'll screw it up. I'm reminded of the Congressman, who six months ago was ticked off at Big Oil because they're not drilling enough for diesel fuel. (lol)

And this guy is making decisions that affect the lives of millions. Good grief!

Ignorance may be the best catalyst of all.

Would love to get a dip to 120 OSX! Only nibbled on MAVK friday. And have some others I like to add to.

MAVK customer base is largely NG industry players in E&P, processing and/or distribution which is why it first got me interested 14-15 months ago @ $10. MAVK has a long way to go yet in this cycle and IMHO digestion of the merger in MAVK's stock price is well advanced. Would like to add in the lo 20s if she spikes down tomorrow.

The broader view is that am playing this as an intermediate term rally in the patch that bottomed 2+ wks ago. Healthy dips are opportunities to estab or add to positions.

If I'm wrong it wouldn't be the 1st time or the last<g> but much as I respect JimL going to stick with my own read of the tape.

Best

BigBull - My comment about needing $30 crude was somewhat tongue-in-check, but it does surprise me to the extent that the OSX still follows crude prices even though oil is well above $18 let alone $25.

Sustainable $28 or $25 crude? Hell, even with sustainable $22 I'll bet the OSX sees 200+.

The date for $18 crude keeps getting pushed out in the futures, yet we still get yanked around with every little crude trade. 12 months ago they were saying by 2001 we'd have $18-20 crude. Now I think you need to go out to 2003 or 2004 before you can find it.

Yet we still follow crude's daily swings...

When this perception finally changes (and it will in the next 3-9 months imho), then we can all buy our own drilling rigs and set them in our back yards as conversation pieces on how we made our fortunes.

In the future I think my general strategy will be to sell into any rally that is caused solely by a rise in crude prices and hold any rally that moves against crude prices.

Ok, I'm done venting. Looking forward to buying more NSS and ATW.
