<<Is the "big bear" negative or positive for silver? If you view silver as a commodity it is negative->>

Hello my friend.

But is a bear market in US equity really that negative for silver, the industrial metal?

First, a bear in stocks would not necessarily mean a worlwide recession. Possibly a recession in the US, but not in Asia or Europe. These guys are already slowly getting out of US dollars. It is hard to say how much industrial consumption of silver would declined, but my bet is that it may even continue to increase. It also depends on what inflation will do. Look at where silver prices were in the middle of past US recessions. I think they did well. For sure investment demand will move higher. In all, I think we should keep the long term in mind... and silver (and gold prices) are near 1972 lows in real terms.

As for BAY...well we agree. Just one thing, I believe that they would be extremely profitabel in the current environment and that they would have no problem to finance.
