I think if any new campaign finance regulation is added it should be about
disclosure. If XYZ corp, or some rich individual wants to contribute a lot to Bill's
or George's campaign that's fine by me but the information should be made
available quickly and publicly. I think the restrictions should apply (if there should
be any regulation at all) to money spent by the campaign, and by the parties, but not
to independently funded and run campaigns. If I wanted to save up $20k and use it
to run a low budget "Vote for Joe Blow" campaign, then I am just exercising my
rights to free speech and should not have to report to the FEC. I KNOW
that this will provide a loophole, but if the government can't close it without
violating my rights then I think we should just have to live with it. Overall I think
such campaigns are beneficial to democracy more then they hurt, but even if they do
hurt I value freedom over democracy. (I would not want to live in a country were
people voted for totalitarian control, if I had to make the choice I'd rather live in a
country with a king who let people live there lives with little interference and no
oppression. I don't think either country is likely to exist and I don't want to have to
live in either but I would take the second over the first any day).

Ztect,
We live in a democratic republic, different than a democracy. Easy to confuse.knc
