Is that your advice to them? Their royalty payments would be less than their legal fees. Sounds like bad business judgment. Perhaps, you could take up a collection for Infineon to offset their costs since you are benefiting from their misery. <G>

The cost of the Hitachi lawsuit and other legal action (ITC and German suit) was explicitly given by the company when the April earnings came out, although I don't remember the number.

My understanding is that when Rambus SETTLES and actual LAWSUIT, recovery of the legal fees IS normally made a part of the settlement.

However, that aside, Rambus has $100 million in CASH (and equivalents). If necessary, they could afford a $3 million per quarter legal bill for a major lawsuit. Not pleasant, but it wouldn't put them out of business.
