Yeah well, I am sure that there is a website somewhere with the "truth" on it. Further, the guy worked on an aircraft carrier and he pinched the boosters from the supply room. The boosters were the type that they attach to supply planes that land ok with the help of a wire, but do not have the torque that jets do, so they put these disposable thingamajigies on the wings to give it that extra torque it needs....

Where ever it was, the dude musta felt like Wil E. Coyote.

Hi TLC and AG,

What about the true story of Andy Granitelli's twin turbo, 350 ci, four door Caprice running at Bonneville? I don't think he made 200 MPH, but went darned fast! He took three passengers with him on one run.

It was written up in AutoWeek back when it was still "tabloid" sized and had a picture of Andy sitting on a lawn chair - all ?00 pounds of him next to his Caprice. Maybe that's the basis of the urban legend?

His tales of driving around in Calif. in this steroidic Caprice were really a kick. Talked about dusting off serious Super Exotics (in a straight line) with this monster taxi!

Best regards, Tom
