Technically he wasn't impeached,

Impeachment is the legal procedure, not the outcome.

Technically he wasn't impeached, and the obstruction charge didn't even make it out of the House.

Then technically he was not impeached on the obstruction charge, but he was impeached. After being impeached he was not convicted.

Whatever one thinks of Gore, Lieberman was
a good choice to counteract these morality themes
that don't really address the issues, especially
since in my opinion his many politicians are corrupted
by power and the fund driven nature of the system.

I think it is the power more then the fund raiseing. There are some obvious examples of minor curruption based on raiseing funds (mainly involveing getting around the restrictions not outright bribery), but most politicans either do what they want to do or do what they think they can get support for doing and then look to people who support that idea for funds more then they look to who makes large contributions and then support causes that are supported by those writing the checks. I think if government didn't control as much as it does people would make less of an effort to influence it with money.

In a way the curruption is not that of rich fat cats shakeing bribeing the politicans as much as it is politicans shakeing down people, groups and companies for support. The feeling is you cant get access without paying the money so the contributers write the checks. When it is currupt it is
often more extortion then bribery.
